#Ingenious -> Uganda Students Make Diesel From Plastic Waste


Two University students in Uganda are aiming to solve the energy problem in the country by producing fuel, from waste… The students are making diesel for engines from use of plastic rubbish.They use basic equipment for their project to heat plastics at high temperatures before cooling it to produce the diesel.

    Great idea! But does it have a negative effect on the atmosphere. I’ve heard that burning plastic is not a very wise thing to do. Though, I imagine that the damaging part of burning plastic is offset-ted by converting it into diesel, I’m not sure if the process affects the atmosphere or not.
